Scott Beckmen, co-founder and managing partner of BCDA, is responsible for operations and client relationships. A 2004 graduate of the University of Texas at Austin with a degree in Government, Scott was a member of the Men’s Track and Field team and he remains a member of the University of Texas Athletics “T”Association. He earned his J.D. from the University of Tulsa College of Law in 2006. During law school, he interned at British Telecom in London, working on International Corporate Transactions and Litigation.
After law school, Scott joined an oil and gas land services company in Fort Worth, TX, where he managed numerous projects throughout Texas and Louisiana and gained valuable legal experience overseeing the settlement of a number of oil and gas lawsuits in the Haynesville Shale. In 2010, Scott began writing title opinions for a nationwide oil and gas law firm in Dallas. Advancing quickly, he soon managed a team of 15 attorneys.
In September 2010, Scott launched Orange Energy Consultants, LLP, a fully integrated land services provider operating throughout the United States.
Dan Cherkassky, a partner of BCDA, focuses on the research and writing of the most complicated Title Opinions. In addition, he coordinates BCDA’s transition into new areas across the country. Dan graduated from Austin College in 2001, and received his Law Degree from the University of Arkansas School of Law in 2004. He was a member of the prestigious Phi Delta Phi Law Fraternity and was elected to serve as the Student Bar Association’s Faculty Liaison.
Before starting his career in oil and gas, Dan worked for the U.S. Small Business Administration, identifying and resolving chain of title issues in the analysis of the collateral offered for government-backed personal and business loans. He then practiced civil litigation for a mid-size Dallas firm with a focus on commercial real estate.
Dan began his career in the oil and gas industry in 2007 as a Landman and quickly began managing land service crews of up to 110 Landmen and title agents in the Barnett Shale, Permian Basin, Haynesville Shale, Mississippi Lime and Utica Shale. In 2010, he began writing Title Opinions for a nationwide oil and gas law firm. He was a speaker for Half Moon LLC at the April 2010 Texas Land Boundaries and Access Rights Seminar.
Eric Dean is a BCDA partner and responsible for recruiting and training, developing new business and assisting senior attorneys with complex legal matters.
Eric graduated magna cum laude from Austin College in 2001. At the University of Texas School of Law, he focused his studies on Natural Resources Law. An editor on the Texas Environmental Law Journal, Eric was awarded a Texas Law Fellowship that provided him the opportunity to clerk at the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department.
After years of real estate and litigation work in the public and private sectors, Eric transitioned to a career in oil and gas. His first position was as a Landman in the Barnett Shale. Soon thereafter, he began writing Title Opinions for a nationwide oil and gas law firm. He advanced quickly, and within a few months he was managing a team of attorneys.
